Halal-Compliance Policy
Last updated: 8 July 2026
Scantorder is a QR ordering platform for halal-compliant restaurants worldwide.
To keep every menu on Scantorder safe and trustworthy for Muslim customers, every restaurant on our platform agrees to the four rules below. If a menu item on your account doesn't meet them, it will be hidden from your customers until it's corrected or reviewed by our team.
1. No alcohol on the menu
Beer, wine, spirits, cocktails, and alcohol-based cooking ingredients (mirin, sherry, cooking wines, rum-soaked desserts, etc.) are not allowed. If your restaurant serves alcohol elsewhere, it cannot appear on your Scantorder menu.
2. No pork or pork by-products
This includes bacon, ham, pancetta, chorizo, prosciutto, pork sausages, pork gelatine, and lard. If a product name contains “pork”, “bacon”, “ham”, or a similar term, it must be a halal-certified alternative (e.g. beef bacon, chicken ham) and clearly labelled as such.
3. All meat must be halal-certified
Chicken, beef, lamb, goat, duck, and any other meat on your menu must come from a halal-certified supplier. Fish and seafood are exempt from certification but must still meet the other rules on this page.
4. No cross-contamination
Halal food must be prepared, cooked, and served separately from any non-halal food. Separate utensils, prep surfaces, and frying oils must be used. This one is on your honour — we can't police your kitchen — but any customer complaint we receive will trigger a review of your account.
How we enforce this
When you save a menu item, our system automatically checks the name, description, and allergens against the rules above. If something looks non-compliant:
- The item is hidden from customers— it won't appear on your public QR menu.
- You'll see a red ⚠ Not allowed pill next to it in your dashboard, with a link back to this page.
- You can request a reviewif you think it's a mistake (e.g. “beef bacon” flagged because of the word “bacon”). A team member will check and approve or reject within 48 hours.
What happens if we find a violation
- First time:we'll email you, hide the item, and ask you to fix or remove it.
- Repeated violations, or a deliberate attempt to get non-compliant items past our system: we may suspend or close your account without refund.
We built Scantorder for the halal community. Playing by these rules keeps every menu on the platform something Muslim customers can trust at a glance.
